An e-mail in January notified Christel Simms that she had been cleared to swim for the Philippines in the Summer Games.

.....Including 2007 Kealakehe graduate Daniel Coakley

When the Philippine Team guns for its first ever Olympic gold medal in this year's Beijing Games, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will be there to support and cheer the Filipino athletes......

Daniel Coakley broke the South East Asian GAMES record with a time of 22.80 seconds.  The old record set in 2005 was 22.98 by Arwut C. Napasean, the Thai champ who was in lane 5.

Daniel broke out at least 2 feet in front of everyone else and just powered right to the wall never giving a inch of his lead in front of 2,000 screaming fans.  Daniel just went all out for a clear victory.
