TO PARENTS/ COACHES/ TEAM BOARD MEMBERS / HOST CLUBS:
The Hawaiian Swimming Officials Committee will be conducting a
training clinic on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Veteran's Memorial
Aquatics Center from 8am to noon.
We will be covering three areas:
1) how to set up the pool deck to run a swim meet (covering buttons,
pads, connections to starting system and computer console);
2) Swim meet Entries - Often the entry members of swim clubs have
questions or run into problems when doing swim meet entries. We
will try to address questions you may have. If you have your team
manager on a lap top, please bring that with you.
3) Stroke & Turn Clinic - Hawaiian Swimming is in need of
more officials on the deck (including stroke & turn, timing
judges, computer operators). We will be covering the duties and
training to become a stroke & turn official. This part
of the clinic will start at 10:00 a.m.
This clinic is especially important If your club is signed up
to host meets over the next few months -- you should definitely
be sending parents to this clinic so they will be able to assist
in these volunteer functions at your club's meet. The LSC
is contemplating imposing a form of sanction against teams that
do not have sufficient number of deck officials to represent their
club at swim meets. Before that becomes necessary, teams should
be responsible for sending parents to attend and learn about becoming
a volunteer.
An RSVP is not necessary, but is appreciated. Any questions or
to RSVP, please email Marcelle Arakaki, Officials' Chair ( marcelle@hawaii.com ) or
phone: 668-1561.
Thank you.
