STARTER'S CLINIC [for officials and for swimmers] AND STROKE & TURN CLINIC - we are in need of more volunteers:

The Officials Committee will be hosting two clinics on Sunday, August 10, 2008 starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Aquatics Center, of the Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park.

OFFICIALS who want to move up to the position of Starter, this is a great practice session.

SWIMMERS & PARENTS - New to swimming and want to learn what to expect at your first swim meet, what does it mean when the whistle is blown; what does it mean when the Starter says "Take Your Mark", "Stand", "Please Respond Promptly to the Command"? The Officials Committee would like to work with you so you feel more at ease when you go to your first swim meet. Or if you are still nervous when you get on the block, or if you just want to practice starts, please join us Sunday, August 10, at 8:30 - 10:15 A.M. at VMAC.

You must RSVP and let us know your level of swimming - just started / been swimming, but still nervous / want to practice starts.

STROKE & TURN CLINIC: Swimming is a sport run by volunteers. Right now, we are very short of volunteers. The first step to take to become a volunteer is to attend our Stroke & Turn Clinic also being held at VMAC.

Time will be 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Please RSVP to Marcelle Arakaki at 668-1561 or by email to: marcelle@hawaii.com.

Thank you,

Marcelle Arakaki
